Cookie policy
Last updated 25 October 2026. Covers the Worthberry websites (worthberry.co.nz and worthberry.co) and the app.
- Worthberry doesn't use advertising cookies. Our websites ask before Google Analytics sets analytics cookies, and work the same if you say no. The app never uses Google Analytics.
- The app keeps a few things in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in and your settings stick. These are strictly necessary or remember choices you made, so they don't need your consent.
- Pages run by others, like Stripe's checkout or your bank's sign-in screen, have their own cookie policies.
Cookies
The Worthberry app doesn't set any cookies. Our websites set Google Analytics cookies only if you choose Accept in the cookie banner. Our ads on the free plan come from partners we work with directly and are counted without cookies or any record of who saw them. See our privacy policy.
Google Analytics on our websites
Our websites use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use them: which pages are viewed, where visitors came from, and the type of device and browser. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether we can use analytics cookies.
- If you choose Accept, Google Analytics sets the cookies below, so we can tell new visitors from returning ones and see how a visit moves between pages.
- If you choose Reject, or haven't chosen yet, no analytics cookies are set. Google Analytics still counts the visit without cookies (Google's consent mode), so it can't recognise you from one page or visit to the next.
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics: tells one visitor from another, with a random ID. | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics: keeps track of the current visit. | 2 years |
Either way, Google receives the usual information a browser sends, such as your IP address, which it uses to estimate your country and city. The Worthberry app never uses Google Analytics, so nothing about your account or your money is ever sent to Google. Google's explanation of how it uses information from sites that use its services has more.
What we keep in your browser
The app and our websites use your browser's local storage, which stays on your device and isn't sent with every request the way cookies are.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| worthberry.token | Keeps you signed in. Strictly necessary. | Until you sign out, or your session ends after 30 days |
| worthberry.local | Holds example data when you explore without an account. It never leaves your device. | Until you leave the example or clear your browser |
| worthberry.theme | Remembers light or dark mode. | Until you change it |
| worthberry.sidebar | Remembers whether the sidebar is open or minimised. | Until you change it |
| worthberry.accountsView | Remembers list or card view on Accounts. | Until you change it |
| worthberry.cookies | On our websites, remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies. | Until you change it or clear your browser |
| worthberry.nzbar | On worthberry.co, remembers that you closed the bar pointing to Worthberry New Zealand. | Until you clear your browser |
| worthberry.adHidden | Remembers ads you've hidden on the free plan. | For the visit |
An app installed to your home screen also keeps a copy of its own files so it opens quickly. It doesn't store your financial data there.
Pages run by other companies
- Stripe, when you pay for a plan, uses cookies on its own checkout and billing pages to process payments and prevent fraud.
- Akahu, when you link a bank, and your bank's own sign-in screen use their own cookies.
- Partner websites you visit by clicking an ad have their own policies.
Your choices
You can change your mind about analytics cookies at any time: choose Cookie settings at the bottom of any page on our websites. If you switch to Reject, we remove the Google Analytics cookies already set. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser, or use Google's opt-out add-on.
You can clear local storage at any time in your browser's settings. You'll be signed out and your display choices will reset, and our websites will ask about cookies again. If we ever add other cookies that aren't strictly necessary, we'll ask first and update this page.
